Further Description of Sighting: It was about 11 o’clock at night. I was about to draw the curtains in my bedroom when I spotted this yellowish light due south of my position. First thought was of a headlight of an aircraft. After a few seconds I realised the object was not moving. I then wondered if it was a police helicopter.
There were no other lights around it, such as navigation lights. I estimated it was around three quarters of a mile to one mile away. That would put it over the centre of Aylesbury. Too low to be an aircraft. About the height, a helicopter might be. If it was a helicopter why was its light pointing towards me and not downwards?
All of a sudden, it accelerated vertically. The yellowish light turned to a reddish colour and in three to four seconds it had gone. There were no signs of jet engines or exhaust trail. I have been staring at the night sky, on and off, all my life but this was the first ‘ufo’ sighting I have seen.
I am convinced it hurtled into space in those few seconds. It was a clear night without clouds for it to disappear into.
