Baseball Sized Orb, Vapor Trail & Leading Cloud.
Location of Sighting: Ocala, Florida
Date of Sighting: May 6, 2022
Time of Sighting: 5:15 AM EDT
Description: On 5/6/22 at approximately 5:15 AM while walking, I saw a baseball sized orb (from my perspective on the ground, roughly the size of the moon as seen from earth) in the eastern sky. As I watched, a thick looking vapor-like trail began to form. At the same time, a white oval shaped cloud began to form in front of the orb. The orb was headed toward the white cloud. A palm tree’s leaves suddenly blocked the orb from my view. When my walk took me past the palm tree, the orb had disappeared.
I reported the sighting to the Ocala Police Dept. I was told by an officer a few days later that there had been a Space X rocket launch on that day and time. I checked the internet and there had been a launch. However, from the video (which was dubbed jellyfish because of the shape of the cloud that formed) all that was visible was the white cloud. There was nothing of the orange orb and it’s vapor-like trail.
Note: This sighting sounds like a rocket launch. The vapor trail and oval cloud are common signatures of rockets. Per witness statements a Space X Falcon 9 rocket launched 53 Star-Link satellites into orbit on May 6 near the time that the witness saw the object.
