Silver Cylindrical Object, Hemispheric Top, Flat Bottom.

Location of Sighting: Golden, Colorado
Date of Sighting: June 17, 2008
Time of Sighting: 12:30 PM MDT

Description: I was sitting in my truck eating lunch, in the parking lot of the Mother Cabrini Shrine, when I saw what at first I thought was a silver leaf/trash bag full of air about a hundred yards away being blown up the hill toward the shrine. As it got nearer to my elevation, I saw that it was indeed silver colored, but it was not a trash bag. The object was cylindrical, approximately four feet tall, about thirty inches in diameter with a hemispherical top and a flat bottom. The top was tilted toward the direction of movement about fifteen degrees. It followed the contour of the hill staying approximately five to six feet from the surface and continued up the hill between my position and the shrine and went out of sight over the top. The speed was constant at what looked to be between ten and fifteen miles per hour. I drove down the hill to Highway 40 which runs along the north side of Interstate 70 and drove west to Paradise Road and turned back North and then west on Charros Drive to Lookout Mountain Road to see if I could intercept it and get a closer look, but I was apparently too late to do so or it had changed course. Looking at Google Earth, I would estimate it would have taken me at least eight minutes to get to that location and if it had maintained it’s speed and height above the surface it would have been on the west side of Lookout Mountain by that time and not visible from the road. I drove back to my office and looked online at the news to see if anyone else had reported a sighting and to look at pictures of reported UFO’s to see if I could find anything similar, but I could not. At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, it was shaped like R2D2 but with no outward markings or appurtenances, just a plain surface. As I said in the beginning, it was silver in color, but did not shine or reflect sunlight. I told my wife and a few close friends what I had witnessed, but did not talk about it at work. It was just not a subject one could bring up without receiving some backlash and ridicule. I have thought about the incident quite a bit since then and tried to rationalize it as being a trash bag blown by the wind. I’ve seen things blown around in the wind and I know what I saw and it was definitely not a trash bag. I’m now seventy-five years old and it’s been a few years, but I can still picture the object in my mind as clear as it was on the day it happened. I experienced no lost time or anything like that, just a sighting that I could not explain. I’ve never reported it before so I though, what the heck, I might as well. It can’t hurt.
